At four months

Can't let go even when sleeping
Being four months old is exhausting. I have already doubled my weight to 16 lbs and have grown to 26 inches long. There are so many things to learn and explore, it's hard to know where to begin. The most fascinating thing though is my feet and hands. I can play with them forever and when I can't find my binkie well my toes work just as well. I like to taste everything. Sometimes I can't decide which hand so I put them both in my mouth.

I love to grasp at everything, but mom hates it when I accidentally pinch her.
Mom tries to get me to roll over from my back, but I have no interest since I hate tummy time and roll over just to get off my tummy.

I would much rather practice on sitting up. Everything looks just a little different. I love sitting in my bouncer seat still, but like the exersaucer from time to time as well.

I love to play super Wesley with dad. I also like to just sit and watch tv with dad but mom says I will get addicted so she doesn't let me do it too much. So we read, and sing, and just talk a lot too. I'm getting to be a pretty good talker. I love to be outside and go on walks too.

I have also started eating a little rice cereal. I wasn't sure of it in the beginning but I am getting use to it now. I try to grab the spoon but mom won't let me see it tell I'm all done. I always gag myself so I'm glad mom is here to help me and feed me.

Conference / Easter

Unfortunately we were all fighting colds and what not this past weekend. However it made it all the more justifiable to stay wrapped up in sweats and blankets in front of conference. I really enjoy conference weekend. Every year it gets better and better (or I'm just maturing and becoming more in tune) and directed towards me. So motivating to become a better wife, mom, and spiritual person.

We had a small Easter egg hunt filled date coupons and conference snacks ;) Followed by a nice ham dinner to top it all off.
Dear cold and flu season,
I hate you. Please pack up all of your germs, bacteria and viruses and leave. You are no longer welcomed here.

Sincerely yours,
The Mom

So the past month has consisted of two ear infections, possible rsv, low grade temps, vomiting and the latest... bronchiolitis. Why does vomit always seem to multiply? And how can he cover me, the couch, and the floor while he remains clean and dry?

We have seen the doctor at least once week, gone through two courses of antibiotics, a bottle of tylenol and numerous sodas and quick comforting foods trying to keep myself sane. I have spent 90 percent of my days, rocking Wesley or pacing back-n-forth. I am definitely a baby wearer. The good news is he's still putting on weight and growing tall. And when we pump him full of tylenol, our house becomes a much happier place for all.

Just a few pics from the past month

Wes found his thumb. He is more of a binkie man then fingers though

Daddy time

Tummy time and Play time

But at the end of the day it is all worth it for a few smiles and giggles

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day.
For each hug hidden there is a reason I love you. Trade me hug for a kiss and I'll tell you why you are so great.
I love you because you`re not happy with me unless I try my best.

Updates

  1. We have moved... to a small house in the small town of Buxton, ND.
  2. Wesley is no longer struggling with weight gain. He seems to have the appetite of a teenager and put on almost 2 lbs in two weeks. A pound a week. YIKES!!!
  3. I had my 6 week check up today. I am down to 194 and now have to undo the atrophy caused by bed rest.

Grandparents

This has been a week for us. It started off with a roadtrip. Christina, Jonny, Emily, Wesley and I all piled in the trooper and headed off to Minot. Our first stop was Dads. It has been about 4 months since I last saw my dad and Kathy. Even though I knew that the chemo was taking it's toll on him, I was a little taken back by how much he had changed. Its a lot easier to preserve our memories of our parents (think of them as staying the same even though they are ill) when you don't see them on a regular basis. (I kinda prefer it that way actually.) However, he remains in good spirits and still trying to live life to the fullest. Dad never thought he would ever see me with a baby of my own but he did and unfortunately calls him Rupert. (Dad always called my boyfriends Rupert so I think wes should be exempt from it and i dislike it). We are just hoping that Wesley will get spend more time with his grandpa. Here are just a few pictures, I will upload more later.
.

We also made a visit to see mom at Manor Care. She wasn't feeling too well after eating a glutenous pizza, so our visits with her were shorter. Her spirits are not great but grand babies can always cure that.

We also stopped introduced Wesley to his Great Grandma Woods where we had a fun evening of pinochle. Then we headed back to Grand Forks to meet the other set of grandparents. Whitney's parents came out from Idaho to be there for Wesley baby blessing. It was a very short trip but we enjoyed having them out. We spent Sunday afternoon not watching the superbowl like most americans but playing games and chatting.

Whitney's parents also gave a camera. It was their not so subtle hint that they want more pictures of Wesley. Hooray! We needed a new everyday camera and though we're not promising pictures everyday, we will try posting more.

Biggest Challenge
  • Our biggest challenge has been weight gain. At his 5 day check-up his weight was down to 7 lbs 7.5 oz. Since he had lost more weight since leaving the hospital we had to start supplementing. His current stats are 8 lbs 2.9 oz and 21 3/8 inches long. He still is not where they would like him to be. He has to have his weight checked every 2 weeks. Being an exclusive pumper is very taxing but we are going to try to keep him on breast milk as long as we can.

He is a very happy baby and we love him.

Wesley Garrett Adams

Wesley Garrett Adams was born on December 28 2009 at 7:20 pm. He weighed in at 8 lbs 2.2 oz and was 20 inches in length.

Despite the concerns and beliefs that he would come early, he hung in there til his induction date. Sunday night, we both felt a little anxious, nervous and couldn't sleep knowing that we would finally meet our little man. Monday morning, we checked in at 7 am and by 8 o'clock I was all hooked up to the monitors. We had very little faith in the resident, and I don't think he was too confident in himself either. (We had a previous experience with him in which we doubted him a good deal.) He wouldn't ever tell us anything, only agree with the nurse, who double checked everything and was awesome. I was dialated to a 3 and was having regular contractions 2-3 minutes apart, but nothing strong enough to get things rolling. They started me on pitocin and antibiotics. Whit and I dozed off and on through out the morning til she broke my water at 1230. About 1 pm I finally began to feel the contractions but they were not bad. Around 145 they began to get intense, and by 2 I decided it was time to get the epidural. After that I fell asleep. Within 45 minutes of pushing and watching the Golden Girls, Wesley finally made his appearance. The entire process wasn't as scary as we had thought, and was actually very easy. The worse part has been the tears healing.

Eviction Notice!!!

I am issuing notice for EVICTION. Tenant, Baby Adams, will have 30 days in which he can either gather his belongings and promptly vacate the premises, or wait until the final day. After which, he will be physically removed from the property.

He's being evicted due to breech of contract and destruction of property. Expansions only to the FRONT of the premises, within reasonable limits, were discussed. Not only have these limits been exceeded, but additions to the back and sides were also made!

Remodeling and gutting of the premises was never approved, nor was changing the initial layout and base structure. And due to property damage, there are now leaks in both the upper AND lower levels, the landlord has received numerous complaints about nightly disturbances.

After 30 days from this day that he doesn’t comply with the notice will result in immediate and forceful removal at my discretion.
